Inspired by the awesome pins that started making the rounds around 2015, I decided to set out to make my own lapel pins. The heart of the project was to imitate a in-game shop that sells power-ups and items from popular video games.
I started by designing a bunch of different power-ups and items that I would personally like to see. I created a poll and had some friends distribute it around to get an idea of which pins would be most popular to design first.
The first run was just three pins: Triforce, Majora's Mask, and Tanooki Leaf. These three were safe, well-known, and popular. To this day they are some of the best selling pins.
The website was designed based on retro-gaming menus: simple and straightforward. One design aspect was that it could grow as new pin designs were added.
